Award-winning journalist and author Susan Sommers shares the tools and strategies she implemented to overcome her own stress and anxiety during COVID 19 by walking the virtual el Camino de Santiago trail. For four months, Susan walked 15,000 steps a day in Toronto, completing the 778-kilometre route in October 2020 and receiving her medal just before her 76th birthday. She continues to walk10,000 steps a day and has completed two other virtual races: the Grand Canyon and the Cabot Trail. In this inspiring and humorous presentation, Susan shares the highlights from her fitness journey, as well as the daily routines, habits, and tools she recommends for building resilience and increase physical, mental, and emotional fitness.

From 1982 to 2018, Susan Sommers was the Principal in her own successful communications’ firm, susan sommers + associates. After completing two Marathons and two books on health and fitness for women, Susan decided to launch a new venture at 72, Power Source for Women, and a new website, www.powersourceforwomen.com in 2017. In January 2019, Susan launched another business, WOOTTEN & SOMMERS, to train clients to be successful speakers and video rock stars. In her Keynote presentations and workshops, Susan describes with insight and humour how she reinvented herself and applied 7 Marathon strategies to build her success new businesses. She offers a fresh perspective on what it takes to launch and grow a successful business, after 50, in today’s economy.
Susan Sommers (Geyer) and Peter Geyer joined the North York YMCA in 2002, she was 57 and he was 54. Since then, he has trained for, and completed, a total of 9 Marathons (including two Boston Marathons) and she has completed two 7 ½ walk Marathons. Together, they have completed over 40 races. While Peter has speed, Susan is a walker/jogger with endurance. Although their styles, goals and results differ, Susan and Peter support each other and make health and fitness an integral part of their lives and marriage

We also created new questionnaires, action plans, Vision Board and Photography ideas, and Journal suggestions to motivate and inspire women to succeed. We expanded the scope of the book to include women’s health and well-being, fitness, mindfulness/spirituality, and nutrition.
